Should you choose a certified therapist or a shaman?

The idea of studying psychedelic therapy may be an interesting academic exercise, but if we are looking at it as vocational training, that reveals that we don’t understand what it’s all about.

Now, an important distinction to make is whether we are taking about true entheogens, or drugs like MDMA.  This is literally a red pill versus blue pill choice.  Are we seeking truth, no matter how difficult it may be to accept, or blissful ignorance?  If we’re talking about MDMA, none of the following applies.

A huge part of our entheogenic experience is about bringing our mind body and spirit into alignment.  It’s about being shown who we are at the soul level, then fulfilling our path and purpose in this realm.  When we know who we are and the reason we’re here, training from other humans is unnecessary.  We do what we do because that’s who we are.

For example, a psychedelic therapists, or more accurately termed a shaman, is going to be shown that’s who they are and what they’re here to do.  If we try to fill that role, and that’s not who we are, we’re going to be in for a rough ride, and it’s simply not going to work.

And how could we possibly help people understand who they are and what they’re here to do if we’ve not done that work ourselves?  The only thing that’s left to do in those instances is to steer them off their course by ignoring or invalidating what they’re shown because we’ve done the same, which is not going to produce the intended results.
